TWO SHOWS WITH JAY BENNETT!
Hey everyone! We're heading out of town (and then coming right back)
for a couple shows with ex-Wilco badass, Jay Bennett.

Jay was instrumental in putting together three of Wilco's best records

the band in 2000. Now, h
e's just released a solo album that's damn good
and we're happy to get the chance to rock with one of our musical heroes.

Hi. Marty here. I just wanted to take a moment on our site and say good-bye to an early Weed Patch fan, Jocelyn Juriansz.

I met Joc shortly after joining Weed Patch and worked with her for most of 2003. Post that, she was someone I spoke to every six months or so but was in my thoughts constantly; Joc was simply someone you would never forget after spending any amount of time with her. She was larger than life - beautiful, inside and out - and, she had come to LA to make it as a designer and a creative person just as I had. She was an energetic spirit that loved to laugh and talked about good food like it was a religious experience.

I last heard from Joc through an email from her roommate, Erin, earlier this year. This last Saturday I Googled Joc's name, looking for any trace of her or her design work out on the www, looking for inspiration that she was still out there trying to make it happen too. The first page that came up in my search was a website created in Joc's memory, informing me that her life had somehow ended on September 24th of this year. This news hit me deeply as I sat searching the site for something to let me know what had happened.

I only knew Joc a short while but if you care to visit her memorial website, you'll get a sense of why someone who knew Joc for such a short time in her brief life would do what they could to let people know of this incredible person and horrible loss.

Joc was at the first official Weed Patch show at the Derby on June 10th, 2003.

Thanks for comin' down, Joc. I'll always be able to hear you yelling for us on the recording I made.

Stop in and say hi, or bye, to Jocelyn Juriansz.

::HI! First things first: The new WP album is in the can...It's been laid down
...Rocked and rolled...We brought it home...We came, we saw and we rocked
that mofo!!! Pics from the studio can be enjoyed here. Next, the tracks make
their way to Denton, TX the first week of August where they will be lovingly
mixed and toiled over by our producer Seth Rothschild and Matt Pence -
drummer and all 'round studio bad-ass behind such incredible bands as
Centro-Matic and South San Gabriel.

At the risk of sounding flat-out giddy, we're all very excited about the shape
this new record took under Mr. Rothschild's watchful ears. We think we've got
a great one. Defintely a worthy follow-up to Maybe the Brakes Will Fail. By
the way, if you don't have a copy of ...Brakes, you're just going to be completely lost when the new album comes out. You'll have no frame of reference...and isn't that what life's all about? Fear not! You can procure yourself a copy of our debut album by following this link here.

Finally, check out our SHOWS page so you can come hear tunes from the
new album. Thanks for stopping by. WP

::Weed Patch nominated for an LA WEEKLY MUSIC AWARD in the
BEST COUNTRY/AMERICANA ARTIST
catagory. How cool is that? Wish us luck.

::Hello, loyal Patch addict(s). It's been a while since we last spoke but there's
plenty to talk about.

First, we've got a show comin' up next week in Costa Mesa as part of the
Dirt Joint music series. Always a great night filled with great music.
Don't believe us? Come see for yourself! Get filled in here.

Also, and this is something we're damned excited about, Weed Patch
is currently in pre-production, getting things in order to record a
follow-up to the very well-received "Maybe the Brakes Will Fail."
We've got our eye on the end of June to start building the new CD and we're
planning to work, once again, with our friend Seth Rothschild of Gingersol.
Glen Ballard was trying to set up a meeting with us but we didn't even return
his calls. That's how cool we are. Over & out. WP

::'Sup? Here comes Santa Claus! Can you see him? I HOPE HE GOT MY LIST!!! That said, take a perhaps much-needed break from the holiday fervor and come spend some time by the fire with Weed Patch (note: there may or may not be a fire). We've got some new shows in the works before we put this year in our annals and we'd love to have you 'round. Details here.

11.10.04
::Weed Patch's residency at Taix in Echo Park is no more. We are currently looking for a more comfy setting in which to continue our molasses-like march toward world domination. Stay tuned for more details. WP

::What are you doing this weekend? Nothing? Great! Come hang with Weed Patch in San Diego on Saturday night. We're hitting the PB scene - gonna work on our tans - with a show at the Tiki House in Pacific Beach. We've got a local Wilco/Replacments cover band called the Nards joining us for an opening set, then it's all Weed Patch for the rest of the night. Come drink yourself silly with us...it might help you accept the FOUR MORE YEARS of W we've got waiting for us. WP

10.02.04
::Hola, Weed Patch loyalists. As we're sure you all know by now, Weed Patch has been invited to play Spaceland in Silverlake on October 13th with the Silos and the Sid Hillman Quartet. It's quite an honor and we're all excited about the opportunity to play that room. We respectfully ask that y'all do what you can to come out and spend the evening with us that night. A good crowd of friendly faces is always a great thing to see from the stage and we'd really love to show everyone at Spaceland that Weed Patch can bring the folks as well as the fun. Hope to see you there! WP

09.18.04
::Weed Patch (and our pal Bill See) brought the rock last weekend at a fund raiser held in Beverly HIlls for Democratic candidate John Kerry...who didn't even bother to show up! He'll be plenty sorry when we all vote for Bush in November. KIDDING! TOTALLY KIDDING! See some pictures here.

::Weed Patch 3.0 is officially here. Joining Neal, Marty and Robinson in our
molasses-like trek toward world domination is Brad Richard, a Florida ex-pat with a knack for guitar/lap steel/slide that is madly creative, exhilarating, and sometimes just plain weird. All good. We're pleased and lucky to have him on board (and will even oblige him his Rush fandom).

Brad replaces our old pal and longtime collaborator Kip Brown. Kip has moved on to focus on his long-in-the-works book on Jimmy Dean, the sausage maker. No wait – that's James Dean, the legendary actor. Happy writing, Kip. Get that tome finished already

::Let Go of the Wheel featured on Bob Harris Presents, Volume 5

"Their musical vision combines the woozy
sunsets and dark portents
of Workingman's Dead,
the smiley-face dream-pop
of Big Star, and a noodling streak that treads into dissonant Wilco / Sparklehorse territory."
